Family planning is an effort to regulate childbirth and improve maternal health. One of the effective long-term contraceptive methods (LTCM) is the postpartum intrauterine device (IUD), inserted after placental delivery. The low participation rate in this method is associated with limited knowledge among pregnant women regarding postpartum IUDs. One approach to address this issue is through educational interventions such as WhatsApp-based lectures (KULWAP). The aim of this study is to increase the uptake of postpartum IUD contraception. This study employed a posttest-only control group experimental design involving 36 third-trimester pregnant women at Dr. Darsono Regional Hospital in Pacitan. The intervention group received education through WhatsApp-based lectures (KULWAP), while the control group was provided with leaflets in accordance with hospital standards. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant difference (p = 0.034), indicating that KULWAP was more effective. These findings suggest that social media can be utilized as an educational strategy in family planning programs. The KULWAP sessions included interactive discussions, visual materials, and real-time question-and-answer segments. Participants in the intervention group reported higher levels of understanding and engagement compared to the control group. The use of mobile technology allowed for flexible access to information, accommodating the participants' schedules and preferences. Moreover, the WhatsApp platform facilitated peer support and shared experiences among pregnant women. This approach aligns with current trends in digital health education and community-based interventions. Future studies are recommended to explore scalability and long-term impact of KULWAP in diverse healthcare settings.
